Aspinall Says Miocic Could Be Injured; Miocic Reacts

Tom Aspinall has said he has heard rumors that Stipe Miocic is injured, raising doubts about his ability to fight Jon Jones.
Jones was meant to defend his UFC Heavyweight Title against Miocic at UFC 295 last year. However, he pulled out with a pectoral muscle injury. Aspinall wanted Dana White to strip Jones, allowing him to fight Miocic, with the winner then taking on Jones. That was refused as Aspinall had to settle for fighting for the interim belt.
He knocked out Sergei Pavlovich to win the interim belt. He then defended it successfully by beating Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 in his last fight. White has said that Aspinall will get the title shot in his next fight, while Tom has said he is the back up if either Stipe or Jones withdraws.
Aspinall Reacts
“These are just rumors, there is a lot of talk, and there is nothing announced yet. I’m hearing rumors that Stipe is potentially injured. These are things I’m hearing from the inner circle, Stipe I believe his birthday was yesterday actually, he’s 42 years old the guy is going to be injury-prone. Jon Jones, million miles on the clock, he’s going to be injury prone. Me, I’m ready to go, I’m not even in my prime yet and I’m hungry for it, and I’m not sure these two guys are but I am. I will fight either of them for the undisputed title on any notice, I’m ready,” Tom Aspinall said
Meanwhile, Jones will have to wait for his bench trial about charges of threatening to kill a drug testing officer. According to reports the police received a complaint from a drug testing officer who went to visit Jones. It is alleged that Jones had threatened to kill her after suggestions that the fighter was drunk. It is claimed that Jones snatched the phone of the female so she could not call the police. And yet, Jones released security footage showing him walking the woman and her colleague to the car without any trouble.
Miocic has now reacted, hinting it is fake news.
Jones’ Trial
“I was recently visited by testers while I was celebrating a birthday and taking a nap. Upon waking up, I was caught off guard by the unprofessionalism and protocol by one of the testers which caused frustration leading me to use some profanity I regret. However, I want to emphasize that at no point did I threaten , get in anyone’s face , raise my voice to anyone or engage in any form of assault. It’s unfortunate that false news has been spread without proper fact-checking. I want to assure you that I will vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations. The truth is, the incident simply did not occur,” Jones said
The trial was meant to happen on August 22, where the alleged victim, Crystal Martinez. However, Judge Asra confirmed that the officer who reacted to the call could not attend due to police matters, meaning it would happen on September 26 or after, leaving Jones waiting longer.
