Yesica Yolanda Bopp was born on April 11, 1984, in Wilde, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Growing up in a modest family, Bopp was introduced to boxing at a young age by her father, who was a boxing enthusiast. Her early training took place in local gyms, where she quickly demonstrated a natural talent and fierce determination. Bopp’s dedication to the sport was evident from the start, and she began competing in amateur boxing at the age of 15.

 

Bopp’s amateur career was marked by a series of significant achievements and notable victories. One of her earliest major successes came in 2004 when she won a gold medal at the South American Games. She began her professional journey on January 5, 2008, with a third-round TKO win against Soledad Macedo in Villa Gesell, Argentina. Bopp quickly established herself as a dominant force in the light flyweight division, amassing an impressive string of victories early in her career.

 

Bopp’s first significant title came on December 4, 2008, when she won the WBA interim female light flyweight title by defeating Ana Fernandez via unanimous decision at Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She continued to defend her title successfully, including a notable win against Jessica Chavez on March 7, 2009, in Puerto Madryn, Argentina. On November 6, 2009, Bopp captured the vacant WBO female light flyweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Ana Arrazola in Salta, Argentina, further solidifying her status as a world champion.

 

Throughout her career, Bopp demonstrated her prowess by retaining her titles against various formidable opponents. She defended her WBA and WBO titles multiple times, including victories over Carina Moreno, Yesenia Martinez Castrejon, and Suzannah Warner. Despite facing setbacks, such as her loss to Jessica Chávez on June 1, 2013, for the WBC Silver female light flyweight title, Bopp’s resilience and determination were evident. However, she faced a tough loss to Jessica Nery Plata on March 11, 2022, in Panama City, Panama, losing her WBA title. In 2023, Bopp claimed the vacant WBO female light flyweight Latino title by defeating Roxana Maria Colmenarez via unanimous decision on December 16 at Racing Club in Avellaneda, Argentina. Her victory over Graciela Cortes Aguilar on October 20, 2023, in Tijuana, Mexico, via majority decision, was another testament to her enduring skill and competitive spirit.
