Early Life and Amateur Career

 

Seniesa Estrada was born on June 26, 1992, in East Los Angeles, California. Growing up in a tough neighborhood, Estrada found an escape and a passion in boxing at the tender age of eight. Her father, Joe Estrada, played a significant role in her early training, guiding her through the basics of the sport and fostering her burgeoning talent. Despite facing challenges and limited opportunities for female boxers, Estrada’s determination and love for the sport kept her focused and driven.

 

Estrada’s amateur career was marked by a series of impressive achievements and milestones that showcased her skill and dedication. One of her earliest notable successes came in 2006 when, at the age of 14, she won the National Silver Gloves Championship. This victory was a testament to her talent and hard work and marked the beginning of her rise in the amateur boxing ranks. In 2009, Estrada won the prestigious USA Boxing National Championships, solidifying her status as one of the top amateur female boxers in the country. A significant milestone in Estrada’s career came on March 20, 2021, when she won the WBA female minimumweight title by defeating Anabel Ortiz via unanimous decision at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. This victory established her as a world champion and set the stage for further success. On July 9, 2021, Estrada added the WBO female junior flyweight title to her collection by defeating Tenkai Tsunami at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

 

Estrada’s dominance continued as she successfully defended her titles against top contenders. On December 18, 2021, she retained her WBA female minimumweight title with a knockout victory over Maria Micheo Santizo at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. In 2022, she further solidified her status by defeating Jazmin Gala Villarino and retaining her WBA title at the Palms Casino Resort in Paradise, Nevada.

 

One of Estrada’s most notable achievements came on March 25, 2023, when she unified the WBA and WBC female minimumweight titles by defeating Tina Rupprecht via unanimous decision at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. Her momentum continued into 2024, culminating in a highly anticipated bout against Yokasta Valle on March 29 at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Estrada emerged victorious, retaining her WBA and WBC titles and winning the IBF and WBO female minimumweight titles, solidifying her position as one of the top female boxers in the world.
