Wilder Remains Confident That He Will Fight Joshua

Deontay Wilder is confident that a fight with Anthony Joshua will happen.

The talk of the fight has been ongoing since 2018, when both men were heavyweight champions. Wilder held the WBC belt, while Joshua had the WBA, WBO and IBF belts. Wilder’s side sent a $50 million offer but required Joshua to accept it before a contract was sent. Eddie Hearn was vocal about how the condition was not acceptable.

The contract never came as talks broke down, with both camps blaming each other. Since then, the two fighters have lost their belts. Joshua lost them to Oleksandr Usyk, and Wilder did the same to Tyson Fury. The fight is naturally not as big as it once was.

Joshua and Wilder are fighting on the same ‘Day of Reckoning’ card in Saudi Arabia. Wilder must overcome Joseph Parker, and Joshua must get through Otto Wallin. They are expected to fight each other if they win their next fights.

Wilder On Fighting AJ

“I don’t see anything stopping this fight happening between me and AJ at this time. I don’t know all the plans that are ahead, but what I’ve seen so far and as of right now, there’s nothing stopping it. The only thing that could potentially stop it is either one of us losing on December 23. That’s the only thing I can see stopping it.

“Other than that, everything else that stopped it happening before like his manager and promoter, I don’t think that problem exists at this moment in time. Everyone is in agreement and was on board last time I spoke with everyone. If and when we both win on December 23, you all can look forward to a great 2024, Wilder versus Joshua,” Wilder said

Wilder On

Standing in Wilder’s way is Joseph Parker. The former WBO heavyweight champion knows what it takes to be in big fights. He would end up losing his title to Joshua, but he took the Brit the distance to become one of the very few fighters to have not been knocked out by Joshua.

Parker may have to do the same by avoiding Wilder’s right hand which can end a fight in any second. The Bronze Bomber’s last fight showed that as he stopped Robert Helenius in the first round, which followed after his two defeats against Tyson Fury. Looking ahead to the fight, Wilder promised that he would deliver a performance against Parker.

“They looking past Joseph Parker. Everybody wants me against Anthony Joshua because that’s the biggest fight of the world, and it’s going down, and I can’t wait. That’s how strong-minded I am that I’m going to beat Joseph Parker’s a** come December 23rd. The ‘Day of the Reckoning’ is a great title for it because that’s what’s going to happen,” Wilder stated

With 43 wins and 42 of those by knockout, it difficult to see anything other than a Wilder KO.
