Valentina Shevchenko Calls Sean Strickland An ‘Offended Kid’

In today’s MMA news, Valentina Shevchenko, the previous UFC flyweight champion, has hit out at Sean Strickland following his comments about women’s MMA.

Both fighters know what it takes to make it at the top level, given that Strickland is the current UFC middleweight champion after having beaten Israel Adesanya via a unanimous decision.

Nevertheless, Strickland did not hold the women’s version of MMA in high regard as he downplayed the skill level that was involved.

And in the process of doing so, former women’s MMA fighter Paige VanZant was vocal about how she had made more money on OnlyFans than the whole of her MMA career. In response to that, this is what Strickland had to say.

“Paige Vanzant said she made more on only fans in 24 hours than she did in the UFC. Let’s unpack.. 1. You were signed because you’re hot. 2. Women’s mma is lame. 3. Men will pay more to see you naked than to watch you fight. Stay in school kids, fighting sucks lol,” Strickland

Shevchenko Reacts

Those comments did not sit very well with Shevchenko, who hit back at the middleweight champion with a few choice words of her own.

Interesting unpack here. That looks more like an offended kid, who got less money in his entire fighter career than female fighters do. Good try, maybe UFC will see that and add some cash to your purse next time. But for now, naked is you are,” Shevchenko

Aside from her issues with Strickland, Shevchenko is currently out injured following her bout with Alexa Grasso at the UFC Noche event on Mexican Independence Day.

During the course of that process, the two fighters ended up getting a split draw after Mike Bell’s 10-8 scorecard for Grasso in the final round caused controversy.

Large numbers of the MMA community felt that Shevchenko had been deprived of a victory. But any chances of a rematch were hindered after both fighters confirmed their respective injuries. But looking forward, the duo were keen to run things back.

Shevchenko vs. Grasso

“Yesterday my hand surgery went well. Now focusing on recovery. But doctor said it was challenging to unite the crushed bones. Recovery from anesthesia wasn’t fun at all! Spend whole day in the bed, taking pain relief pills Today filling already better and were able to go walk to Muscle Beach to charge strong energy for my recovery,” Shevchenko said

“What are the odds huh? In the fight I broke my hand; we are used to not letting pain stop us in anything and even though it hurt I didn’t think it was serious until I wanted to go back to training and realized that my hand was still very bad.
The surgery was a success thank you very much Doctor Arroyo and Doctor Zarate, you are angels!
I fully trust my health in your hands @sportmedmx and I know I’m going to be MEGA ready for that trilogy #ANDSTILL,” Grasso stated

With both fighters expected to return next year, the trilogy cannot come soon enough. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
