Teofimo Lopez Vs. Shakur Stevenson Predictions – ‘Almost Impossible’

Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson are set to collide on January 31, as pros picked their winner.
Lopez will be defending his WBO and lineal junior welterweight titles against Stevenson, who is moving up five pounds to attempt to become a four-weight world champion. Lopez is looking for his fourth title defense. Since his 2023 victory over Josh Taylor, he has remained highly active, most recently handing Arnold Barboza Jr. his first professional loss via a lopsided unanimous decision in May 2025. Meanwhile, Stevenson enters his 140-pound debut following a career-best performance in July 2025, where he successfully neutralized the high-volume attack of William Zepeda to retain his WBC lightweight crown.
Predictions
“I will probably be over there watching it. It is a great fight and obviously I have my eyes on that as a potential opponent for those guys next. It is going to be good, and it is going to be a great fight. I am favouring Shakur (Stevenson) on points,” Dalton Smith said
“I think that Shakur has got a good possibility of stopping Teofimo, because of how dominant he has been in this camp. His focus level [has improved], he has taken it a lot more serious. I’m not saying that he didn’t in his other camps, but he has taken this fight a lot more serious and he has got a chance of stopping Teo, for sure,” Keyshawn Davis stated
“I think there are more avenues to victory for Teofimo Lopez than there is for Shakur. Because Shakur is so set in who he is, and I absolutely love it, straight up and down. But it is going to be so hard to pull him out of who he is. On the other side of that is, Teo can go the defensive route. He can go to [a style] where he wants you to at least walk towards him and Shakur will plod forward, very defensively,” Shawn Porter stated
More Predictions
“It’s going to be a great fight. Teo is a hell of a fighter – I love Teo. But I love Shakur. [Stevenson’s] style is almost impossible to break. But, if there’s a fighter who can break it, it’s Teo. I love Shakur because he doesn’t run. He’s right there in front of you. So, it’s up to Teo do something,” Oscar De La Hoya revealed
“Shakur has a lot in his arsenal that he can use to make him victorious, as does Teofimo. “If I had to give you my honest opinion, if Teofimo shows up and is ready to fight, just like how he fought against Vasiliy Lomachenko, he’ll win,” Gary Antuanne Russell revealed
