Rousey vs. Carano Netflix trailer drops without UFC footage
Most Valuable Promotions released the official trailer for its May 16 Netflix card headlined by Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, but the promotional package is missing something crucial: any footage from the fighters’ UFC careers.
As MMA Mania pointed out, the minute-long video relies on “shaky cam, quick edits, and studio sparring” to sell a card stacked with former UFC stars. MVP does not have access to UFC library footage, leaving the promotion to build hype around Rousey, Francis Ngannou, and Nate Diaz without showing the fights that made them famous.
What the Rousey vs. Carano card includes
The event takes place at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles and streams live on Netflix, per MMA Fighting. Rousey has not fought since 2016, Carano since 2009. The co-main features Ngannou against 2018 PFL heavyweight tournament champion Philipe Lins in his first post-PFL appearance. Diaz meets bare-knuckle standout Mike Perry in an MMA rules bout after both spent time outside the cage.
“It’s very, very needed in the sport,” MVP co-owner Jake Paul told Complex News. “I think it’s been a monopoly for so long, run by the UFC, and the fighters haven’t had another place to go where they get the exposure and more pay.”
The card also features former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos against Robelis Despaigne, Muhammad Mokaev versus Adriano Moraes, and Jason Jackson against Jeff Creighton. First bell is May 16.
