Spence Calls Out The Winner Of Tszyu vs Fundora - 'Two Weight World Champion Incoming'

Errol Spence Jr. has called out the winner of Tim Tszyu vs Sebastian Fundora, who face off on March 30 for the WBO and WBC 154 belts.

Spence has not fought since getting stopped by Terence Crawford last year, who became the first Undisputed Welterweight Champion of the four-belt era. The rematch broke down after Crawford became frustrated at Spence’s excuse for the loss. The Truth blamed his vision, undergoing cataract surgery on his right eye.

Crawford had been linked with the Canelo Alvarez fight, only for the Mexican to rule that out. The WBO recently ordered the winner of Tszyu vs Fundora to take on Crawford, who is the WBO Super Welterweight Champion, making him mandatory. Although that may be the case, Tszyu’s manager, Glen Jennings, indicated that his fighter could vacate his title if he gets past Fundora to take on Spence. Now, the Truth has stated he wants that fight next as he will be ringside.

Spence Reacts

That leaves Crawford’s next possible move uncertain. He was aiming to become undisputed in a third weight class. Tszyu and Fundora are fighting for the WBO and WBC belts at 154. A win over either would have made Bud the Unified Junior Middleweight Champion. Since the IBF and WBA belts are vacant, Crawford could have fought for those titles, too. A Tszyu vs Spence fight did come out of the blue, especially since the Australian’s manager had indicated that talks would begin with Crawford as soon as possible after the fight.

“So immediately after that fight, when everything becomes official, we’ll go straight into negotiations to see what we can get done. Of course, Tim will also have a WBC mandatory, which clouds the situation somewhat. But obviously, when Crawford comes into play, the entire boxing world sits up and takes notice,” Jennings stated

Tszyu On Spence

Tszyu has reacted to Spence’s comments, stating that he is looking forward to facing The Truth. But he cannot look past Fundora. Tszyu took the fight on less than two weeks’ notice. This was because Keith Thurman withdrew from the fighter, injuring his bicep. Since Fundora is a much taller southpaw, Tszyu must be wary. But Spence is the next target.

“I’ve wanted Errol Spence for a long time. We’ve had history, he’s called me a few things so I’d like that fight as well. Come to papa. Come to papa. It feels good. And that’s why we went down this path of collecting the belts, because then they come to you. I was in that position where I was chasing, chasing, chasing Charlo. Now they’re coming to me. And it’s a bigger responsibility for them to come to me. So it’s beautiful, man. These are the types of moments that I’ve always wanted. Big moments,” Tszyu stated

Before Tszyu thinks about that fight, he must take care of business on March 30.
