Ryan Garcia Headlines Against Romero, Leaving Haney Humiliated

Ryan Garcia will now box Rolando Romero instead of Isaac Cruz in a Ring Magazine card in May.

It will be the first card of its sort since Turki Alalshikh acquired it. Ryan will make his first appearance since last April. He faced Devin Haney and beat him in a majority decision to secure the biggest win of his career. But the euphoria was soon over after he tested positive for Ostarine. Ryan was given a year ban while also seeing the result turn into a no-contest.

He will be allowed to box from April 2025. He announced he would be facing Cruz next. They were set to face each other last year before Ryan faced Haney. But Cruz decided to fight Romero for his WBA Junior Welterweight Title. He knocked out Romero to win the belt. But he lost the title against Jose Valenzuela in his next fight. Ryan was also linked with the Romero fight last year. But Romero pulled out, slamming Ryan for not paying him enough. The duo fired verbal shots at each other.

Garcia Vs. Romero

“Look I was informed the deal [with Romero] was finalizing and it would be announced in the coming days. Obviously, that was a lie. My patience has been tested the last few weeks. I’m trying my best to be as honest and real as I can to you guys. I’ll be looking forward to announcing my next fight. I’m not going to say anything until it’s actually signed and delivered. I still look forward to putting on a big PPV for DAZN boxing. Have a blessed day,” Garcia said

Haney will also fight on the card against Jose Ramirez. He may feel hard done by that he is not headlining since Ryan tested positive. However, even with the VADA scandal, Garcia’s popularity on social media increased. He has gained an even bigger fanbase while Haney’s brand has suffered. Devin vacated his WBC Junior Welterweight Title after only Top Rank made a purse bid for his mandatory fight against Sandor Martin.

Garcia’s Return

He has also suffered extensive damage in the Garcia fight, getting dropped three times. There are question marks over whether he will be the same. But Ramirez is coming off a loss. He lost a unanimous decision to Arnold Barboza Jr. This may be the perfect time to face Haney, whose confidence will be tested. But Devin knows a win is vital to setting up a Garcia rematch, which is being discussed for October.

“The Ring Magazine is excited to announce its first boxing card in USA this May 2025 in collaboration with the video game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (which the card will be named after) and SNK Games. The card includes three fights: Ryan Garcia vs Rolando Romero Devin Haney vs Jose Carlos Ramirez Martin Bakole vs Efe Ajagba Further details about venue and exact date will be announced later, stay tuned,” Turki Alalshikh
