Zabit Magomedsharipov returns against Dan Hooker in Moscow BJJ match
Former UFC featherweight contender Zabit Magomedsharipov is set to face Dan Hooker in a grappling match in Moscow on July 5, according to MMA Mania.
The bout marks Magomedsharipov's first announced appearance since stepping away from MMA competition. The Russian last fought in November 2019, defeating Calvin Kattar by decision before health issues sidelined his promising UFC run.
Weight class for Zabit-Hooker grappling match unclear
No weight has been confirmed for the matchup, which pairs two fighters from different divisions. Hooker campaigned at lightweight during his UFC tenure, while Magomedsharipov competed at 145 pounds. MMA Mania noted that Hooker is reportedly a "big boy" outside of fight camp, raising questions about where the two will meet.
Hooker remains on the UFC roster and last competed in April. Magomedsharipov has not fought since his health issues emerged following the Kattar win, though he has stayed visible in grappling circles.
The July 5 card in Moscow has not been officially announced by any promotion.
