YouTuber Knocked Down By Robot In First Human Vs. Machine Fight

A YouTuber was knocked to the canvas by a six-foot Terminator-style robot at what organizers called the first human versus machine cage match.

Frankie LaPenna faced the T-800 robot Sept. 18 at a 100-person private event in Austin, Texas, according to MMA Mania. Early footage shows LaPenna landing combinations to the robot's chest and head before the machine fired back with a front kick that sent the lightly armored human across the cage.

CIX Expands From Robot Vs. Robot Bouts

The event was staged by CIX, the same group behind REK fights where human-piloted robots compete in a plexiglass octagon. REK has held 13 events across nine cities, most in San Francisco, per the company's website.

Full video of the bout has not been released. Clips show the robot moving stiffly at first before connecting with the kick that ended the contest. LaPenna managed to bull forward early and land strikes, but the machine's counter proved decisive.

CIX has not announced plans for additional human versus robot matchups, though the group continues to run its robot-only circuit.
