Whyte Reveals Fractured Foot In Itauma Loss

Dillian Whyte entered his one-round loss to Moses Itauma in August 2025 with a fractured foot, according to the British heavyweight.

Whyte told Sky Sports he first hurt the foot during a run, then suffered a clean fracture later that day when he stepped backward awkwardly while sparring. He refractured it in the dressing room warming up before the Saudi Arabia bout, at which point a doctor advised him to pull out. Whyte refused.

"It was terrible, but we're used to pulling off miracles. We're used to fighting injured," Whyte said, per Bad Left Hook. "I made the best of the situation and had a decent camp. I felt good during fight week and really thought I would beat Moses."

Whyte said he still believed he could drag Itauma into the later rounds and stop him the way Filip Hrgovic later did. He added that he did not want to take away from Itauma's performance but felt people might judge him less harshly knowing the full circumstances.

Whyte has not announced retirement plans and mentioned interest in fighting Johnny Fisher next.
