Weidman Recalls USADA Tracking Him Down On Golf Course

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman once had drug testers interrupt a golf outing to collect samples while his friends waited at the turn.

Weidman joined Jorge Masvidal and Dustin Poirier on the Deep Waters podcast to swap stories about surprise visits from USADA, the UFC's former anti-doping partner, according to Sherdog. The three fighters recounted incidents ranging from inconvenient to borderline absurd.

Weidman's Golf Course Visit And Post-Surgery Scare

The testing agents showed up at a golf course and waited for Weidman to finish nine holes. "I had to go take pee and blood and my boys had to wait for me to do it, because once they see you, you can't leave their eyesight," he said, per the report.

Weidman also described a close call when testers arrived at his home while he was at a mountain property. He flew back but hit traffic, missing the two-hour testing window and earning a warning. In another instance, he was fresh out of surgery with an IV still in his arm when USADA showed up. "It was a f*cking nightmare and I was so paranoid that I was going to get in trouble," he said.

Masvidal recalled testers following him across Miami after a training session at American Top Team, while Poirier mentioned being tested during a car purchase. The three fighters are no longer subject to USADA protocols after the UFC switched to a new drug-testing program in 2024.
