Nurmagomedov Back In Gym After Song Knockout
Umar Nurmagomedov returned to the gym within days of suffering his first knockout loss.
The Dagestani bantamweight was stopped by Yadong Song in the second round of their Aug. 29 main event at UFC Shanghai, according to Sherdog. The loss marked his second defeat inside the Octagon and likely removes him from immediate title consideration.
Nurmagomedov Vows No Mental Setback After UFC Shanghai
Nurmagomedov posted to Instagram that he refuses to let the result shake his confidence. "I have no plans to lose heart or withdraw into myself," he wrote, per Sherdog. "I got up and shook off the dust. I'm back in the gym and getting back to work."
He also told fans not to dwell on his loss, pointing to global tragedies as perspective. "Look at the tragedy that has befallen Gaza," Nurmagomedov added. "Even they do not lose heart. They remain strong and resilient. What right do we — alive and healthy — have to complain?"
Nurmagomedov closed his message with gratitude, writing "Stay strong and thankful to God always." No timeline has been announced for his next bout.
