Vettori Returns To Kings MMA After 4-Fight Skid

Marvin Vettori has left American Top Team and returned to California in search of the form that once carried him to a UFC title shot.

The Italian middleweight, who faces Ismail Naurdiev at UFC 332 on Oct. 3 in Salt Lake City, rejoined Kings MMA after dropping four straight fights inside the Octagon. Vettori spent seven years at Kings before a brief stop at Xtreme Couture and a 2023 move to ATT in Florida. He told MMA Fighting the change was necessary to recapture what worked during his five-fight winning streak that earned him a title challenge against Israel Adesanya.

Dariush Takes Over As Head Coach

Vettori will work under Beneil Dariush at a restructured Kings MMA that no longer resembles the original camp. "I made some changes… I'm back in California," he said, per MMA Fighting. "I had to find myself again and I did. I feel good. I'm actually excited to fight… I went back to my roots and went back to what made me the fighter who won five in a row and fought for the title."

Vettori stressed he has no issues with American Top Team but believes the gym was not maximizing his abilities. He has also reunited with his old boxing and strength coaches in California. Sherdog first reported the camp switch.

Naurdiev enters UFC 332 on a 25-8 record. Vettori, now 19-10, has not won since a decision over Paulo Costa in October 2023.
