Vergil Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOs) boxes Erickson Lubin (27-2, 19 KOs) on November 8, as we look at how the fight could play out.

Ortiz enters the fight with a win over Israil Madrimov to retain his WBC Interim Junior Middleweight Belt. Ortiz had been in talks to face the WBO Junior Middleweight Champion Xander Zayas . However, reports stressed that Zayas rejected a 50-50 offer. In contrast, Lubin’s confidence is riding high with three straight wins over Luis Arias, Jesus Ramos Jr., and Ardreal Holmes Jr. Here is how the fight could transpire.

The Approach

Ortiz, a devastating puncher with a near-perfect knockout record, will be facing a seasoned, technically sound southpaw in Lubin. Ortiz Jr.’s path to victory lies in his power and pressure. With 21 knockouts in 23 fights, Ortiz can end a fight with a single shot. His strategy will likely be to walk Lubin down, cut off the ring, and land his heavy shots to the body and head.

Ortiz’s two recent fights against Serhii Bohachuk and Israil Madrimov, both of which went the distance, show that he can go deep into a fight and still maintain his power. Against Lubin, Ortiz will look to exploit any defensive lapses. For example, if Lubin tries to move laterally to his left, Ortiz will try to catch him with a clean right hand.

Lubin’s route to victory is based on his technical skills, movement, and ring IQ. Lubin, a southpaw, will be looking to frustrate Ortiz by using his footwork and angles to stay out of harm’s way. He will likely use his jab to keep Ortiz at a distance and disrupt his rhythm. Lubin’s ability to box on the outside and land sharp combinations will be crucial. An example of this is his impressive win over Jesus Ramos Jr., where he used his superior boxing skills to outclass the undefeated fighter.

"I’m always happy to be a part of the fights that fans want to see. See you guys November 8," Ortiz

"I want to thank Golden Boy, PBC and ProBox for making this happen. I think the fans are in for a treat. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for, this fight is about redemption, I’m back for everything," Lubin
