Lee Selby stops Antonio Rizzo in bare knuckle debut at BKB 55
Former IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby stopped Antonio Rizzo in the second round Saturday night at BKB 55 in Cardiff, winning his bare knuckle boxing debut in front of a hometown crowd.
The 39-year-old Welshman, who previously held British, Commonwealth and European titles during his gloved career, finished the Italian in round two of the evening's headliner. MMA Mania captured the stoppage and Selby's post-fight comments.
Selby defends age advantage after Cardiff win
"Like NWA said, I've got an appetite for destruction," Selby told reporters afterward. "It felt amazing, and don't forget, I'm almost 40 years of age. Rizzo is almost half my age; he could be my son. So, I'm doing it for the 40-year-olds, the 40 club."
Selby hails from nearby Barry, Wales. The card also featured a second-round knockout by two-time BKB UK champion Daniel Lerwell over former British and European MMA titleholder Danny Mitchell.
BKB has not announced Selby's next opponent or a timetable for his return to the bare knuckle ring.
