UFC welterweight Uros Medic tore his meniscus hours before his 30-second knockout of Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Belgrade earlier this month.

Medic, who extended his winning streak to four fights with the finish in his Serbian homecoming, revealed the injury in an interview with MMA Junkie this week. The freak accident happened during a warmup when his knee popped out of place and filled with fluid. UFC Performance Institute staff examined the joint and ruled out ACL damage, diagnosing a meniscus tear instead.

Medic Pushed Through Knee Injury For Homecoming Fight

"Honestly, we were just warming up, and my knee popped out of place and was like, 'Whoa, what is this,'" Medic told MMA Junkie. "I tried to straighten my leg out, and it popped back in. Straight away I started to fill with liquid and started to swell."

The Dana White's Contender Series alum said he considered pulling out but refused to withdraw from the biggest opportunity of his career. He told his team they would proceed with one leg if necessary. The gamble paid off when he stopped Rodriguez in the opening minute, though Medic will now undergo surgery to repair the damage. A timeline for his return remains unclear.

Medic has won five of his last six fights, including victories over Geoff Neal and Muslim Salikhov. He called out former champion Leon Edwards after the UFC Belgrade finish.
