Gamrot Vows Comeback After UFC Vegas 120 Submission

Mateusz Gamrot has broken his silence after suffering a first-round submission defeat to Quillan Salkilld in the UFC Vegas 120 headliner on Saturday night.

The eighth-ranked lightweight, who was stopped inside one round at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, took to social media to address the loss. "I lost. But this defeat doesn't end my story," Gamrot wrote, per MMA Mania. "You can defeat me in one evening, but you won't take away my faith, my character, and my will to fight."

What's Next For Gamrot After Second Straight Submission Loss

The Polish grappler has now been submitted in back-to-back defeats, previously tapping to Charles Oliveira before falling to Salkilld. At 26-5 overall, Gamrot has alternated wins and losses across his last six outings, and his championship aspirations have stalled. The 35-year-old veteran had built a reputation as a gatekeeper who tested rising prospects, but that run ended abruptly in Nevada.

Gamrot insisted he will bounce back. "Because as long as you're walking, the story continues," he added in the statement. Potential next opponents include a rematch with Rafael Fiziev or a bout against surging Tofiq Musayev, who has recently found form in the lightweight division.

UFC Vegas 120 took place on August 8, 2026, with Salkilld capturing the biggest win of his career by halting Gamrot in round one.
