UFC White House porta potty ratio sparks bathroom concerns
The UFC White House event will install 494 portable toilets for an expected crowd of 85,000 at The Ellipse, according to MMA Mania — a ratio of roughly one receptacle for every 172 attendees.
The figure exceeds National Park Service requirements, which mandate one portable toilet per 300 guests, but the sheer volume of fans packed into the so-called Freedom 250 festivities has raised logistical concerns. MMA Mania's Jesse Holland noted the units will be split between The Ellipse and Lincoln Memorial.
How UFC White House bathroom setup compares to festival standards
Holland, who has covered combat sports since 2004, wrote that sharing facilities "with 172 strangers on a hot and humid day sounds like a miserable experience." The event, scheduled for the Ellipse lawn, represents one of the largest outdoor fight cards UFC has attempted.
No word yet on whether supplemental facilities will be added as the event nears or if local businesses near the National Mall will open restrooms to ticketholders. The promotion has not commented publicly on sanitation logistics.
