Katie Taylor eyes Croke Park swansong as undisputed champion

Katie Taylor has said fighting at Croke Park for the undisputed lightweight title would be the perfect end to her career. The Irish champion told BBC Sport the stadium holds special meaning for her and the country.

“This seems like the perfect way to end it [my career] – by becoming undisputed champion again in our national stadium which has such a special place in Irish hearts”

What Katie Taylor said

Taylor regained undisputed status in her lightweight division after her rematch win over Amanda Serrano. The two-weight world champion has floated the idea of a third fight taking place in Dublin, with Croke Park emerging as the frontrunner venue. Taylor has fought professionally in Ireland once before, stopping Christina Linardatou at the Manchester Arena's Irish rival in 2019.

What it moves

A Croke Park finale would mark Taylor's first professional bout at the 82,300-capacity stadium. Speaking to BBC Sport, she framed the potential homecoming as a career bookend rather than simply another defence. Whether Serrano accepts the venue or Taylor pursues a different opponent remains unclear.
