UFC Pulls Mickey Gall From Return Over Medical Issue

Mickey Gall has been pulled from his scheduled return at UFC Vegas 121 this weekend after pre-fight medical tests revealed an issue that made him ineligible to compete.

The welterweight was set to face Sedriques Dumas in Las Vegas after nearly two years away from the cage, but the UFC informed him on Sept. 24 that something flagged in his medicals requires a procedure before he can fight again, Sherdog reports. Luis Hernandez, a recent Dana White's Contender Series graduate, has stepped in on short notice to replace Gall against Dumas.

Gall Vows Quick Return After Setback

Gall addressed the withdrawal on Instagram, expressing disappointment but committing to resolve the situation quickly. "I was contacted this morning. Something came back on my medicals that [is] making me ineligible via simple procedure. I will be back," he said. "It sucks. I have overcome a lot to be here. And it's not lost on me that I've done a lot of losing in there. I wanted to give my friends, my family, my fans something to cheer about."

The 34-year-old has gone 7-7 since making his UFC debut in 2016 as a relative unknown. After finishing his first three opponents, Gall hit a rough stretch that saw him alternate wins and losses before dropping four straight starting in 2021. He last competed in 2024 and had not won since 2021.

Gall says the procedure needed is straightforward and expects to return once cleared by doctors.
