Undefeated welterweight prospect Jacobe Smith will step in on nine days' notice to face Octagon newcomer Bruce Whitehead at UFC 332, according to MMA Mania.
The bout takes place Oct. 3 at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Smith, 12-0 as a pro, has torn through the welterweight division since joining the UFC, earning Performance of the Night honours when he knocked out Josiah Harrell in Houston earlier this year. The 30-year-old former NCAA wrestler also holds stoppage wins over Niko Price and Preston Parsons, the latter coming in just 73 seconds.

Whitehead Brings Two-Fight Streak Into UFC Debut
Whitehead enters the promotion on short turnaround himself, having knocked out Ali Abouzalam at Fury FC 124 only 13 days before the UFC 332 date. The 29-year-old carries an 8-2 record with five finishes, including three submissions and two knockouts. His only recent setback came against current UFC fighter Victor Valenzuela in 2025.
Smith was originally scheduled to meet Kevin Holland at UFC Oklahoma City in July, but Holland withdrew from that matchup. The UFC has since built Smith as one of the division's most aggressive pressure fighters, a style the promotion typically elevates quickly through the ranks.
