Tyson Fury books Thailand return vs. 46-year-old Wach

Tom Rashid
UFC & MMA Lead Writer ·

Former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will face 46-year-old journeyman Mariusz Wach on July 24 at Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, according to MMA Mania.

The bout lands one day before Anthony Joshua meets Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Fury and Joshua were reportedly signed to meet later this year, but both fighters now risk derailing those plans with active schedules. Queensberry and Ring Magazine are co-promoting the Thailand card, though no streaming platform has been announced yet.

Fury's camp frames Wach bout as Joshua prep

Fury manager Spencer Brown told ESPN the matchup reflects his fighter's character and commitment to the Pattaya community. "This fight is serious preparation for his fight with Anthony Joshua and we cannot afford any slip ups at this stage," Brown said. "So, Tyson will be ready and I fully expect him to build on his performance at Tottenham Stadium last April."

The 37-year-old Fury carries a 35-2-1 record with 24 knockouts. He rebounded from back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk by taking a unanimous decision over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April 2026, his first appearance since late 2024. Wach holds a 39-13 mark with 20 stoppages but has dropped three of his last four, including a decision loss to Viktor Vykhryst in March.

Fury said the event allows him to give back to a region that has welcomed him on past visits while staying sharp for the second half of 2026. The Thailand date marks the start of what he called a landmark year in his career. Weigh-ins and final press obligations have not been announced.
