Tszyu To Challenge Lara For WBA Middleweight Title

Tim Tszyu will challenge WBA middleweight champion Erislandy Lara in Australia in late November, his promoter No Limit Boxing confirmed Tuesday.

Tszyu, 31, is chasing a second world title in a different division after holding the WBO belt at 154 pounds. He has won three straight, most recently beating Errol Spence Jr. by unanimous decision on July 26 in his middleweight debut.

Lara, 43, is boxing’s oldest reigning world champion and has held the WBA title since 2021. The Cuban southpaw has made four successful defenses, the latest a decision over Johan Gonzalez in December 2025.
