Tommy McMillen breaks Nate Diaz record, declares himself third Diaz brother

Tommy McMillen landed 252 significant strikes across three rounds at UFC Oklahoma City this past Saturday, breaking the single-fight record Nate Diaz held for years and immediately claiming kinship with the Stockton brothers.

The featherweight stopped Alberto Montes in the third round at Paycom Center, connecting on 252 of 517 total attempts. That figure topped Diaz's previous three-round benchmark and ranks third all-time in UFC history, trailing only Max Holloway's 290 against Calvin Kattar and Rob Font's 271 against Marlon Vera. Both of those came in five-round main events.

McMillen says officials kept him under guard at weigh-ins

McMillen told Full Send MMA that Montes talked trash all fight week but tried to exchange a respectful handshake at the ceremonial faceoffs. McMillen slapped his hand away and cursed him out. "They made me sit with a cop at the weigh-ins all day because I was trying to fight him," he said, per MMA Mania. "I really do this. I'm a real American gangster."

After learning he broke Diaz's record, McMillen went further. "I'm the third Diaz brother, so it's only right that that record goes to me," he added in the same interview.

McMillen is 2-0 in the UFC with back-to-back stoppages and bonus checks in both appearances. He has called for a fight at Noche UFC 4 in Arizona this September, preferably against a Mexican opponent.
