Till Urges McGregor To Retire After UFC 329 Injury

Tom Rashid
UFC & MMA Lead Writer ·

Darren Till believes Conor McGregor should walk away from the sport after the Irishman suffered a knee injury just seconds into his UFC 329 bout with Max Holloway.

McGregor went down early in the rematch when his knee buckled, forcing the referee to wave off the contest. The former two-division champion has pledged to return at next year's International Fight Week, but Till told The Independent that McGregor's body is sending a clear message. "If Conor's getting injured like that in the first few seconds of a fight, he should probably be listening to his body," Till said, per BJPENN.com. "But again, the one thing with Conor, he's got more than enough money to get seen to and to get all the best procedures, so who knows, he might come back a better man, he might not."

McGregor's Injury History And Till's BKFC Interest

The UFC 329 setback marks the third major injury for McGregor in recent years. He broke his leg in the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier, then pulled out of a scheduled bout with Michael Chandler due to a toe problem. McGregor has one fight remaining on his UFC contract, which could open the door to bare-knuckle boxing at BKFC, the promotion he part-owns.

Till, who now competes in BKFC himself, said he would take a bare-knuckle matchup with McGregor if the opportunity arose. "If it's ever on the cards for me and Conor, I'd happily take it," Till said. "If ever that day comes and he wants to fight me, then we'll glove up — or we won't glove up, because it'll just be fists."

Till faces Yoel Romero at BKFC 94 on September 26 in Manchester.
