Teixeira On Pereira Stopping Hokit In Round 1
Glover Teixeira wants Alex Pereira to settle his rivalry with Josh Hokit inside the Octagon, and the former heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight champion thinks it would be a short night.
Speaking to journalist Laerte Viana hours after beating Mauricio Rua by decision in an eight-round boxing match at Spaten Fight Night 3 in Sao Paulo, Teixeira said Hokit is the ideal next opponent for Pereira. "Personally, I would love to see him against Hokit," Teixeira said, per Sherdog. "I think this guy speaks a lot of bullsh*t and I believe 'Poatan' would knock him out in the first round."
Bad Blood Between Pereira And Hokit
The Brazilian former two-division champion and the undefeated American have exchanged words in recent months. Hokit made crude remarks at the UFC Freedom 250 presser, then called out Pereira in his post-fight interview after stopping Derrick Lewis at the White House event.
Teixeira added that Pereira is training regularly and waiting for his next assignment from the UFC. The prediction comes as no surprise given Pereira's knockout power at heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight, where he finished five of his last six opponents inside the distance.
No official word yet on when or where the UFC might book the grudge match, but Teixeira made clear which way he expects it to go.
