Tank Davis: Judge Denies Second Attempt To Recall Probation Warrant

Gervonta Davis is facing escalating legal trouble after a Baltimore County judge denied a second attempt by his legal team to recall an active probation violation warrant, leaving the unbeaten lightweight with an outstanding warrant in Maryland and a criminal case in Florida still unresolved.

Davis has been on probation since a 2020 hit-and-run case in Baltimore that left four people injured. The current warrant was triggered by his January arrest as he was charged with battery, attempted kidnapping, and false imprisonment following allegations made by a former girlfriend. The false imprisonment charge was dropped, but the battery and attempted kidnapping charges have not.

The allegations stem from an incident on October 27, 2025, at a Miami strip club where Davis' former girlfriend worked states he attacked her at the venue, subsequently filing both a criminal complaint and a civil lawsuit connected to the same allegations. Davis was arrested in January, posted bond, and was ordered to have no contact with her.

The probation violation warrant — now twice denied recall by the same judge — means Davis is technically wanted in Maryland, a legal reality that complicates both his personal situation and the timeline of his planned boxing return. The WBA had already ordered a mandatory defence against Floyd Schofield with a negotiation window expiring on June 22, and the picture surrounding Davis outside the ring is now considerably more complicated than what is happening inside it.
