Strickland Fires Back At Woodley Over Din Thomas
UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland and former welterweight titleholder Tyron Woodley exchanged hostile direct messages over the weekend after Strickland publicly criticized coach Din Thomas.
The controversy stems from UFC 330, where Thomas cornered Gillian Robertson in her title loss to Mackenzie Dern. Thomas announced his retirement as a cornerman after the fight and later apologized on the Deep Waters podcast alongside Dustin Poirier and Jorge Masvidal, per BJ Penn.com. Robertson questioned the sincerity of that apology in her first post-fight comments.
Woodley Warns Strickland Over Thomas Criticism
After Strickland defended Robertson and attacked Thomas on social media, Woodley sent the champion a warning. "Watch your mouth talking about Din," Woodley wrote in messages Strickland later posted to Instagram. "You have no clue WTF you talking about, we laugh all the time when you have no filter, but you a habitual line-crosser. I'm ride or die about him. Don't cross that line."
Strickland responded three hours later with a dismissive message that included multiple expletives directed at both Woodley and Thomas, according to the report.
The exchange added another layer to the fallout from Thomas' controversial retirement announcement, which sparked backlash across the MMA community after Robertson's championship loss at UFC 330 in Philadelphia.
