Sean Strickland vows hotel lobby confrontation with Chimaev
Sean Strickland has threatened to hunt down Khamzat Chimaev in the fighter hotel lobby at UFC 328 if he believes the UFC is limiting his access to his opponent while giving Chimaev free rein.
The former middleweight champion posted on social media that the promotion is trying to restrict his interactions with Chimaev ahead of their main event clash. "Listen I will say this now. I will not be controlled by a third world dog," Strickland wrote, per Sherdog. "If I find there is unequal treatment between our camps I will walk to the lobby and wait for him."
Strickland accuses UFC of favoring Chimaev camp
Strickland's post suggests he feels the UFC is managing the pre-fight environment in a way that benefits Chimaev while restricting his own movements. The California native has built a reputation for confrontational behavior in the lead-up to fights, and his latest comments indicate he plans to bypass any organizational guardrails if he perceives bias.
The UFC 328 headliner marks Chimaev's return to the cage after a lengthy layoff due to illness. Strickland has repeatedly questioned Chimaev's durability and gas tank in interviews leading up to the bout.
UFC 328 takes place in Abu Dhabi on March 8.
