Sean Strickland threatens hotel lobby confrontation with Chimaev
Sean Strickland says he will confront Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC 328 fighter hotel lobby if the promotion shows unequal treatment between their camps ahead of Saturday's main event in Perth.
Strickland posted on social media that the UFC is attempting to limit his interactions with Chimaev in the lead-up to their middleweight clash. "If I find there is unequal treatment between our camps I will walk to the lobby and wait for him," Strickland wrote, per Sherdog.
Strickland accuses UFC of restricting access to Chimaev
The former middleweight champion added inflammatory language directed at both the promotion and his opponent, stating he would not be controlled. Strickland's threat comes amid a contentious build-up to the five-round bout that serves as his first fight since losing the belt to Dricus du Plessis last January.
Chimaev enters as a heavy favourite after running through Robert Whittaker in October with a first-round face-crank submission. Strickland has claimed he plans to frustrate the Chechen-born grappler with volume striking and cardio in what could be a title eliminator at 185 pounds.
UFC 328 takes place Saturday night local time at RAC Arena in Perth, with the main card streaming on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN.
