Smith Calls Fury vs Joshua A Toss Up

Liam Smith believes Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua has become a genuine coin flip heading into their long-delayed heavyweight showdown.

The former junior middleweight champion told Bad Left Hook that both men are past their primes and shopworn, turning what would have been a clear Fury victory five years ago into an even contest. "I think it's a toss up. I think it's a 50/50 fight," Smith said, per the outlet.

Smith Gives Fury The Edge Despite Even Odds

Smith acknowledged his disappointment that the fight is happening now rather than in its prime window four to six years ago, but maintained excitement for the clash of personalities. He noted that both heavyweights no longer take shots as well as they once did, which complicates predictions.

Despite calling it 50/50, Smith still leans toward Fury if forced to pick. He expects the WBC champion to use his unorthodox style and ring generalship to navigate around Joshua's power. "I still think Fury might mess and fiddle his way around, he's very unorthodox and athletic," Smith explained.

Smith warned purists not to expect a clean technical showcase, predicting plenty of clinching and rough tactics. "I think there's going to be a lot of wrestling and dirty tactics but I do think Fury's got that off to a T cause I think he knows how to win," he said. No fight date has been announced for the British heavyweight collision.
