Shara Magomedov Signs With Real American Freestyle

Tom Rashid
UFC & MMA Lead Writer ·

UFC middleweight Shara Magomedov has signed with Real American Freestyle, the promotion announced this week.

Magomedov becomes the latest active UFC fighter to join RAF's crossover wrestling division, per Sherdog, following recent additions Merab Dvalishvili, Belal Muhammad, and Khamzat Chimaev. The 31-year-old Dagestani carries a 17-1 MMA record into the move, with 15 straight wins to start his career before a decision loss to Michael Page. He has since beaten Michel Pereira and Marc-Andre Barriault in back-to-back outings.

Magomedov's Grappling Background Fits RAF Crossover Format

The signing aligns with RAF's recent launch of crossover championship belts designed for active MMA competitors. Magomedov has competed in grappling matches against Edson Barboza and Arman Tsarukyan outside the cage, making the freestyle wrestling transition a natural step.

RAF has aggressively expanded its UFC talent pool in recent months while staging events that pit former champions against established contenders. Magomedov's debut date with the promotion has not been announced.
