Serhii Bohachuk faces Mykal Fox on May 17 in a junior middleweight fight this weekend, as we give a preview of the fight.

Bohachuk picked up the WBC Interim Junior Middleweight Belt after beating Brian Mendoza in a unanimous decision. However, he lost the belt after suffering a majority decision loss to Vergil Ortiz Jr. He bounced back from that loss by stopping Ishmael Davis in his last fight. The win took his record to 25-2-0. Bohachuk has a 96% knockout rate, with 24 of his 25 wins coming by KO. He has an extensive amateur background, winning a silver medal at the 2015 Ukrainian Championships. He has also competed in the World Series of Boxing for Ukraine.

Fox enters the fight with a unanimous decision victory against Yainel Alvarez. He has turned around his form, having won his last two fights, ending his three-fight losing streak. Fox has an 81-inch reach, giving him an eight-inch reach advantage. He has never been stopped, showing a solid chin despite being dropped. However, with only five knockouts to his name, Fox’s 20.9% KO rate shows a lack of power.

Pre-Fight

"I feel like I’m the best super welterweight in the world," Bohachuk stated

"I’m trying to take his momentum. I’m not worried about his feelings. I think Bohachuk tries to break you. He doesn’t knock people clean out. Over time, he’s trying to break you by coming forward. He’s always trying to push the pace. It’s a conversation you have with yourself. He’s looking to bring a fight.

"The best thing you do is stick to your game plan. Do what I do, if not, you know, we start getting into playing his game. The biggest thing, too, is that Bohachuk is about six feet tall. So, these guys are around that height. So, training for the dimensions they fight behind that jab, and they have that energy you have before you turn 26 or 27," Fox said
