Early Life and Amateur Career
Serhii Bohachuk was born on April 24, 1995, in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, a country with a rich tradition in boxing. Growing up in a sports-oriented family, Bohachuk was introduced to boxing at a young age. He began his training at a local gym, where his natural talent and dedication to the sport quickly became evident. Under the guidance of skilled coaches, Bohachuk developed a strong foundation in boxing fundamentals, which would serve him well throughout his career. Bohachuk’s amateur career was marked by significant achievements and notable victories on both national and international stages. He first gained national attention in 2012 when he won the Ukrainian Junior National Championships. This victory showcased his potential and set the stage for his future endeavors in the sport. His success at the national level earned him a spot on the Ukrainian national boxing team, where he trained and competed alongside some of the country’s top talents.
In 2013, Bohachuk competed in the European Youth Championships held in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He delivered impressive performances throughout the tournament, advancing through the early rounds and facing tough opponents from across Europe. Although he did not win a medal, his participation in such a high-level competition provided him with valuable experience and exposure to different boxing styles. Another significant milestone in Bohachuk’s amateur career was his participation in the 2014 AIBA Youth World Championships held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Professional Career
Serhii Bohachuk began his professional boxing career on February 3, 2017, with a second-round knockout victory over Matt Murphy at the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles, California. This debut set the stage for Bohachuk’s reputation as a knockout artist, a theme that would continue throughout his career. His early fights were characterized by his relentless aggression and powerful punching, leading to a string of impressive stoppages. Notably, Bohachuk secured a first-round KO against César Aguilera on February 24, 2017, and followed it up with another knockout win against Yasmani Pedroso on March 18, 2017, at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Bohachuk’s rise in the professional ranks was swift and marked by numerous knockout victories. On September 16, 2017, he delivered a second-round TKO against Joan Valenzuela at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. His ability to finish fights early continued to draw attention, and by December 7, 2017, he had secured his sixth professional victory with a fifth-round KO against Kevin Ottley at The Hangar in Costa Mesa, California. Bohachuk successfully defended his title with a series of dominant performances, including a fifth-round KO against Carlos Galvan on December 13, 2019, and a sixth-round RTD victory over Alejandro Davila on September 25, 2020, in Merida, Yucatán, Mexico.
Despite a setback in 2021 when he lost his WBC Continental Americas light middleweight title to Brandon Adams by TKO on March 4 in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, Bohachuk rebounded strongly. He reclaimed the vacant WBC Continental Americas light middleweight title with a second-round KO against Aaron Coley on November 3, 2022, at Quiet Cannon in Montebello, California.
