Sean Strickland ranks MMA top sport, rips soccer again
Sean Strickland posted a tier list of sports ranked by what he considers masculine, placing mixed martial arts at the top and soccer near the bottom.
The UFC middleweight champion, who reclaimed the title from Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328 in May, put kickboxing and boxing behind MMA, followed by wrestling, according to Sherdog. He listed rugby, hockey, football, baseball, lacrosse and tennis ahead of soccer. Swimming came last.
Strickland targets soccer players after World Cup final
Strickland went after soccer players in the wake of the FIFA World Cup final, calling out what he sees as flopping. "How are you a grown man faking being hit? Are there any soccer players out there? Do you feel no shame when you fake being injured?" he posted.
The California native is 31-7 and stopped Chimaev in a major upset this past spring. Chimaev reportedly wants a rematch, though Nassourdine Imavov and Dricus Du Plessis are also in the mix for the next title shot. Du Plessis holds two wins over Strickland.
