Sean Strickland threatens hotel lobby confrontation with Chimaev

Tom Rashid
UFC & MMA Lead Writer ·

Sean Strickland says he will walk to the fighter hotel lobby and wait for Khamzat Chimaev if he believes the UFC is treating their camps differently ahead of their UFC 328 main event.

The former middleweight champion posted on social media that the promotion is attempting to restrict his interactions with Chimaev, according to Sherdog. Strickland wrote that he refuses to be controlled and will take matters into his own hands if he perceives preferential treatment. "If I find there is unequal treatment between our camps I will walk to the lobby and wait for him," he posted.

Strickland complains about UFC restrictions on pre-fight interactions

The post reflects mounting tension between the two middleweights in the lead-up to their Saturday bout. Strickland has repeatedly criticized what he views as the UFC's attempts to manage fighter conduct during fight week, particularly regarding face-offs and media obligations.

Chimaev, who has not publicly responded to the threat, remains unbeaten in the UFC with a 13-0 record. Strickland held the middleweight title briefly in 2023 before losing it to Dricus du Plessis.

UFC 328 takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with the Strickland-Chimaev main event serving as a likely title eliminator at 185 pounds.
