Brady On Lack Of Philly Fighters At UFC 330

Sean Brady was never offered a bout at UFC 330 despite the event taking place in his home city of Philadelphia.

The welterweight contender, ranked fifth on Meta and sixth elsewhere, told Home of Fight he received no proposal from the UFC to compete on the card headlined by Islam Makhachev defending the welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry. Brady, who just stopped Joaquin Buckley in his last outing, said a potential matchup with Gabriel Bonfim would have required even shorter notice after Bonfim faced Belal Muhammad.

Brady Criticises Lack Of Philadelphia Representation

"I know a lot of the fans are disappointed, and I talked about it on my podcast because I get messages literally even right now, 'Why are you not on the Philly card?'" Brady said, per MMA Junkie. The card features just one local fighter in Jeremiah Wells after teammate Joe Pyfer was pulled when Caio Borralho withdrew injured.

Brady called the card underwhelming beyond the two title fights. "It's just unfortunate that they didn't get more local people on the card," he said. The Philadelphia native has fielded constant questions from fans about his absence with less than two weeks until the event.

UFC 330 takes place in Philadelphia later this month with Makhachev and Garry in the main event.
