Sean Brady Never Offered Fight For UFC 330

Philadelphia welterweight Sean Brady was never offered a fight for UFC 330 in his hometown next week.

Brady, ranked fifth at 170 pounds, told Home of Fight that the promotion gave him no opponents for the Aug. 15 card at Xfinity Mobile Arena despite two title fights topping the bill. "After I fought Buckley, obviously we all have bumps and bruises, and for the most part I was pretty good, but I never got offered anything," he said, per MMA Mania.

Brady Wanted Higher-Ranked Opponent After Buckley Win

The 33-year-old had already fought down in the rankings twice in a row following his loss to Belal Muhammad, so he made clear after dominating Joaquin Buckley at UFC 328 that he would only accept a step up. According to the report, potential matchups with Gabriel Bonfim came up in talks, but nothing materialised. "So, I guess there were no real good options, and they didn't offer me anything," Brady said.

UFC 330 features Islam Makhachev defending the welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry and Mackenzie Dern putting the strawweight belt on the line against Gillian Robertson. Only one Philadelphia fighter made the card: Brady's teammate Jeremiah Wells. Middleweight Joe Pyfer was originally booked against Caio Borralho but lost the bout when Borralho withdrew with an injury.

Brady competes one week later in a freestyle wrestling match against Jordan Burroughs at RAF 12. He hopes to return to the Octagon before the end of the year, preferably on the East Coast or inside the Apex.
