Scott Coker Reveals New MMA Promotion Today At 6pm ET

Scott Coker will reveal his new MMA promotion in a live video announcement today at 6pm ET.

The former Strikeforce and Bellator boss is set to unveil the promotion's name, brand identity, format, and global vision, along with what he described as surprise announcements, per MMA Mania. Coker's leadership team includes Kevin Kay as Chief Content Officer, Tom Fox as Chief Operating Officer, Rich Chou as Executive Vice President of Athlete Relations, and Chris DeBlasio as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Communications.

Coker On Current State Of MMA

Coker told Ariel Helwani that he sees an opening in the market. "I feel like there's a little bit of a funk in the MMA space right now," he said. "So, you know, let's go stir it up. The thing with MVP, their show, they're stirring it up. It gets people excited. It gets people to root for somebody. And then we're we're gonna do the same. People are gonna root for us too, and we're gonna go stir it up. So to me, I think the sport needs a little bit of shaking the cage — and that's something that we're really good at."

Coker reportedly turned down a $40 million investment to maintain full control of the company. "I don't want to be diluted to where I don't control the company," he told Helwani. "There's a learning curve in this business, and if you don't know it, you're gonna be paying crazy money out because you don't know it. And you know what? I've been in the business almost four decades, or over four decades now. I know this business."

Most top MMA talent remains under contract with UFC, while PFL recently partnered with Jake Paul's MVP promotion. The live announcement streams at 6pm ET.
