Schofield Confirms Bahdi Title Fight On October 10

James Wright
Senior Boxing Writer ·

Floyd Schofield will challenge Lucas Bahdi for the vacant WBA lightweight title on October 10, most likely in Las Vegas, after Golden Boy Promotions and Most Valuable Promotions reached a deal to avoid a purse bid.

Schofield's manager Michael Miller confirmed the date to Manouk Akopyan following Schofield's announcement that the two sides had come to terms. The WBA stripped Gervonta Davis of the belt and moved him to champion in recess status amid his ongoing legal troubles and extended absence from the ring, per Bad Left Hook.

What Schofield Brings After Farmer Demolition

Schofield has fought just once since climbing off the canvas to beat Rene Tellez Giron in November 2024, missing a scheduled bout with Shakur Stevenson after falling ill at the last moment. That one appearance produced a statement — he demolished Tevin Farmer in 78 seconds last June, stopping the veteran fresh off two close losses to William Zepeda.

Bahdi carries a 20-0 record with 15 knockouts and owns a win over Ashton Sylve from 2024. The Canadian has also beaten two undefeated fighters and former titlist Roger Gutierrez in recent outings, though he has not produced another finish on the level of the Sylve demolition.

Both lightweights enter undefeated. The bout likely lands on DAZN, with the venue expected to be confirmed when Golden Boy and MVP announce the card in the coming weeks.
