Salkilld Details Knee Injury After Gamrot Finish

Quillan Salkilld may have suffered a knee injury during his first-round submission win over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Vegas 120.

The 26-year-old lightweight stopped the No. 6-ranked Gamrot via rear-naked choke Saturday night, but told the UFC Vegas 120 post-show on Paramount+ that he felt something wrong with his knee during an early wrestling exchange. "He had my ankle and it turned to like 90 degrees," Salkilld said, per MMA Fighting. "I turned into it and forced it. I just went into it and heard a little pop."

Salkilld Pushed Through Pain to Secure Finish

Salkilld said the knee bothered him even as he locked in the choke that ended the fight. "Even when I had that rear-naked choke, I actually felt it," he said. "I was like, if I don't get this, my knee's going to be sore later. In round two or three, it would have been. It's a bit sore now."

The Contender Series graduate has won 13 straight since a submission loss in his first pro bout in early 2021. His last four wins have all come via first-round finish, including a head kick knockout of Nasrat Haqparast.

Salkilld's camp has not announced a timeline for his return or whether imaging revealed structural damage to the knee.
