Ronda Rousey reveals personal beef with UFC exec Hunter Campbell
Ronda Rousey has pulled back the curtain on her strained relationship with UFC executive Hunter Campbell, saying his approach to compensation discussions left her feeling disrespected.
The former bantamweight champion took issue with Campbell's handling of contract negotiations involving herself and Gina Carano, according to a clip shared on social media. "He was being so dismissive and just trying to get me and Gina to value ourselves less from the get-go," Rousey said, per Sherdog. "He was like, 'Oh, I know, you guys are just so much older and I just don't know how it's gonna do.'"
Why Rousey says the conflict became personal
Rousey took particular exception to Campbell's use of age as a negotiating tactic, suggesting the executive was trying to undercut their market value before talks even began. The comment appears to reference discussions around a potential matchup between the two women's MMA pioneers.
Campbell currently serves as the UFC's chief business officer and has been instrumental in many of the promotion's fighter contract negotiations. Rousey has been retired from MMA since 2016 after consecutive knockout losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
The remarks offer a rare glimpse into the UFC's backroom deal-making from one of the sport's biggest names. Rousey did not specify when the conversations took place or whether they involved a comeback bout.
