Prochazka Announces Camp Start After Ulberg Loss
Jiri Prochazka has entered training camp, signaling a return to competition nearly six months after his knockout loss to Carlos Ulberg at UFC 327.
The former heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight champion posted a photo from the gym Monday, writing "Right on the spot, lets start the camp," per MMA Mania. Prochazka appeared in sharp condition in the image, his first public indication of an imminent fight booking since the April defeat in Miami.
Prochazka's Path Back After Third Title Loss
Prochazka has not fought since Ulberg stopped him in April, a bout the Czech striker appeared to control before the finish. Ulberg suffered a knee injury early but rallied to knock out Prochazka, who later attributed the loss to showing mercy. Days after UFC 327, Prochazka's first child was born, keeping him away from the octagon through the summer.
The 33-year-old has lost three of his four UFC title fights despite winning the belt in June 2022. A shoulder injury forced him to vacate that championship, and the promotion has not awarded him gold since. Prochazka has floated weight class changes recently, discussing potential moves to both middleweight and heavyweight, though he has not confirmed where his next bout will take place.
Light heavyweight remains wide open following Ulberg's coronation, and one strong performance could thrust Prochazka back into title contention at 205 pounds. No opponent or date has been announced for his return.
