Miami-Dade Deputy Luis Hernandez's UFC Debut

Miami-Dade sheriff's deputy Luis Hernandez made a strong UFC debut Saturday, submitting Sedriques Dumas in just 57 seconds and earning a $100,000 Performance of the Night bonus.

Hernandez took the fight on two days' notice, only 11 days removed from earning his contract on the Contender Series, stepping in for Mickey Gall in a bout that shifted to heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight. He hurt Dumas with an overhand left before closing in and finishing with a standing guillotine choke, extending his unbeaten record to 9-0, all by stoppage.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz praised Hernandez's discipline following the win. He's said he'd like to return before the end of 2026, potentially at welterweight.
