James Wright
Senior Boxing Writer ·

Ben Whittaker believes he can control every phase of his fight with Richard Rivera. The heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light-heavyweight told Ring Magazine he has spotted vulnerabilities in his opponent's style.

“It can go however I want it to go. I feel like I'm prepared for anything in that ring. I see some chinks in his armor.”

What Ben Whittaker said

Whittaker is pushing for a statement win in the heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light-heavyweight division. Rivera presents a test that could move the Briton closer to world-level fights if he performs as he expects.

What it moves

The confidence suggests Whittaker plans to dictate tempo rather than react. Rivera will need to prove those perceived weaknesses do not exist when the bell rings.
