Boots Ennis ready for 'goodnight' finish against Xander Zayas
Jaron Ennis has trained for all versions of Xander Zayas ahead of their unified welterweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super welterweight title fight Saturday on DAZN.
Per a Bad Left Hook story, Ennis told Chris Mannix and Sergio Mora during a pre-fight interview that his camp accounted for Zayas's versatility. "With Xander, he a different style. He can box, he'll come forward, he'll move, he'll do a little bit of everything," Ennis said. "So for this camp we had a little bit of everything in our camp."
Ennis dismisses Zayas footwork claims
The Philadelphia native reportedly said he does not care which approach Zayas takes. "I don't care how he come. Whatever he do, it don't matter," Ennis said, according to the report. "It's going to be goodnight either way."
Ennis sparred with multiple fighters during preparation, including Demetrius Andrade. When asked about Zayas claiming superior footwork, Ennis dismissed the idea as delusional. "Every time I hear him talk he just be talking to say anything just because he in front of a camera," he said.
The two-belt showdown takes place Saturday night with Ennis defending his IBF strap against Zayas's WBC title.
