Katie Taylor eyes Croke Park finale after asking 'what else is there to chase?'

Katie Taylor has revealed she wants to end her career at Croke Park in Dublin. The undisputed lightweight champion told BBC Sport that a homecoming fight is the only remaining goal she is chasing.

“I had a conversation with Eddie [Hearn, promoter] after the last fight and I said, 'what else is there to chase other than Croke Park?'”

What Katie Taylor said

Taylor has twice fought Amanda Serrano in back-to-back classics, the second of which took place in Texas last November. The Irish southpaw has campaigned for years to bring a major fight to Dublin, with Croke Park the obvious venue. Taylor won two Olympic golds for Ireland before turning professional in 2016.

What it moves

A Croke Park bill would need stadium approval and broadcast backing, but Taylor has made her intentions clear. The question is whether a trilogy with Serrano or another marquee lightweight name can deliver the occasion. Taylor has yet to confirm when she plans to retire.
