Jermall Charlo pulls out of next Saturday's fight

Jermall Charlo has withdrawn from his scheduled bout next Saturday after a visa denial prevented him from competing. The former middleweight titleholder announced the cancellation and pledged to return on a PBC card soon.

“Unfortunately, I will not be able to fight next Saturday. I've been training nonstop for the last three months and was ready to make a statement. I want to apologize to all my fans and let them know I will keep training and be back on a PBC event very soon.”

What Jermall Charlo said

Charlo has been out of the ring since his June 2021 decision win over Juan Macias Montiel. The American had been training for three months ahead of the planned return, which was set to take place outside the United States. The visa issue scuppered those plans less than a week before fight night.

What it moves

Charlo told Ring Magazine he will continue training and expects to appear on a PBC event in the near future. The cancellation leaves his comeback timeline uncertain. PBC has not yet announced a rescheduled date or alternative opponent for the former champion.
